Keeping our platforms secure and resilient while we transform
Overview
In July 2024, we upgraded our core Oracle platform to the latest software version, thereby ensuring that it remains secure, resilient, and fully supported while we transform our services as part of the Matrix programme.
Our approach
In collaboration with our clients, we used our in-house technical and project management expertise to deliver this critical upgrade to Oracle’s E-Business Suite platform to time and under budget, with minimal impact to our service users.
Agility is at the heart of what we do and midway through project delivery, we accommodated a significant Machinery of Government change, establishing the ledgers and HR hierarchies for three new Government Departments. Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration through our One Team approach were instrumental in achieving a smooth transition for our service users.
Benefits
By delivering in-house, we avoided £2.5m of additional cost to the implementation budget that would have been required for an outsourced provider. Our agile approach enabled us to accommodate evolving client priorities, while ensuring our platform remained supported. Our users were able to continue using UKSBS services without interruption – a clear success measure for the implementation. This collaborative success provides confidence and an exemplar for our transformation journey.
