UKSBS is committed to transparency and the principles contained in the Freedom of Information Act.

We are therefore following the FOI guidance in this publication scheme, informing how and when information is available. UKSBS will continue to conduct an open and honest service for its employees, clients and the public.

There are seven sections to the publication scheme.

Who we are and what we do

UKSBS is an official Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) operating in the public sector.

Up until July 2023, UKSBS was owned by the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

The Machinery of Government changes announced in February 2023 resulted in the replacement of BEIS and the Department for International Trade (DIT) with three new government departments. The ownership of UKSBS has changed in line with these changes.

UKRI remains an owner alongside three new departments: the Department for Science Innovation and Technology, (DSIT), the Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), and the Department of Business and Trade (DBT).

What we spend and how we spend it

UKSBS receives funding from its public sector clients and owners.

How we make decisions

As a limited company UKSBS is governed by its shareholders. UKSBS has a Board structure which oversees the strategic direction of the organisation. UKSBS also operates a customer governance structure which supports operational and service decisions with customers.

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires that every business in the UK with a total turnover of £36m or more must produce and publish a slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year.
